SARAJEVO, March 14 (FENA) - The Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Embassy of France to Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized a formal reception today to mark 500 days until the start of the 33rd Summer Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
President of the BiH Olympic Committee Milanko Mučibabić, the Ambassador of France in BiH Christine Toudic and BiH athletes Amel Tuka, Larisa Cerić and Mesud Pezer addressed the audience on this occasion.
Mučibabić emphasized that he "sincerely wants the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris to be organized in a dignified way, to the pride of sports, athletes and Olympic values".
“The slogan of the Olympic Games is 'Games Wide Open', and they will be open to 10,500 athletes, for 32 sports, 206 countries, and millions of people in France, Europe and the world will be able to watch. It is the most important event in sports. For the first time, the opening ceremony will not be held at the stadium but in an open space along the Seine River,” Mučibabić said.
In his address to BiH athletes, the president of the Olympic Committee of BiH said that "another 500 days of sweat, renunciation, pain, suffering, and finally joy await them until the realization of their dream".
“Your dream and ours is that as many as possible of us go to the Olympic Games and win the first Olympic medal for Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Mučibabić.
Ambassador of France to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christine Toudic, said "that sport contributes to a peaceful vision of competition between nations in a world marked by the horrors of war, which, unfortunately, also affected Bosnia and Herzegovina 30 years ago."
“The Olympic Games are a symbol of peace in history and the only sports competition without discrimination. One of the goals of the 2024 Paris Games is the organization of the Games for all. I would like the athletes of Bosnia and Herzegovina to qualify for the Olympics and to carry the colors of their country,” said Ambassador Toudic.
The best BiH athlete, Amel Tuka, a finalist in the 800 m race at the last Olympic Games in Tokyo, said that the support of the Olympic Committee of BH is very important in the effort for BiH athletes to achieve historic success.
