ZENICA, April 18 (FENA) - USAID/INSPIRE and the City of Zenica sign the Agreement on the Support Program for marginalized groups of women and members of other marginalized groups and the implementation of the program has started.

A public call for this Program will be announced in September or October for the selection of beneficiaries, with whom the contracts will be signed until the end of the year.

Deputy Director of the USAID/INSPIRE Human Rights Support and Protection Program Dunja Jalimam pointed out that in 2020 the Government of the United States of America through USAID launched the Human Rights Support and Protection Program to improve government institutions with the aim of overall protection of human rights in BiH and providing sustainable opportunities for employment and self-employment of marginalized groups in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The overall support is based on the previous cycle of support, in which we supported the establishment of around 70 businesses in 10 local self-government units in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which today are successfully run by women. The difference compared to the previous cycle of support is that now our support - together with the support of government institutions, is aimed not only at marginalized groups of women but at generally marginalized groups in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” emphasized Jalimam.

In the coming period, together with the City of Zenica and nine other local units - five each from the entities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Travnik, Maglaj, Cazin, Novo Sarajevo and Zenica) and entities of the Republika Srpska (Trebinje, Berkovići, Vlasenica, Brod and Teslić), will work on the development of entrepreneurial models.

The criteria and the entire Program will be developed with each local self-government unit, and only new businesses and unemployed persons will be supported. It is expected that around 70 new businesses will be supported and opened this time as well.

USAID and the City of Zenica will provide 60,000 KM for the implementation of this Program in equal proportions. The mayor of that city, Fuad Kasumović, pointed out that they are satisfied that they will participate in this program. The City of Zenica will allocate 30,000 KM for the implementation of this Program.
