SARAJEVO, May 8 (FENA) - World Red Cross Day and Week are celebrated from May 8 to 15. Secretary General of the Red Cross Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Rajko Lazić, said in an interview with FENA that the Society will traditionally mark this through the activities of the Red Cross of the RS, the Red Cross of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Brčko District, as well as all the organizations that are part of the structure, which consists of 166 organizations.
According to him, these are the traditional sale of stamps, then the distribution of promotional material, educational activities, various social activities and the distribution of humanitarian goods to vulnerable populations, and visits to maternity hospitals.
“In cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, we will mark three important buildings in Sarajevo, Mostar and Pale, to show the public that this is Red Cross and Red Crescent Week, that it is a holiday for our entire family within 192 national societies, as many are counted by the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent,” said Lazić.
He says that the Red Cross and the Red Crescent are permanent categories and regardless of the way the state is organized, the Red Cross is always there to respond to its task and mission. These are public authorities, international authorities and care for people who need the help of the Red Cross and the wider community.
He pointed out that the Society of the Red Cross of BiH is an organization that takes care of both the local population and citizens who are on the territory of BiH and need help, such as migrants.
According to him, the purpose of the Red Cross is to care for people who are in a state of different needs, social-economic categories.
