BANJA LUKA, June 11 (FENA) - By the will of 347 of the 352 delegates present at the election assembly, Milan Miličević was elected as the eighth president of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS).
Miličević has been a member of the SDS since 1992. He held the position of President of the Local Committee of the Serb Democratic Party of Banja Vrućica, and then President of the Teslić Municipal Committee.
He was also the president of the Club of Councilors of the Serb Democratic Party in the Teslić Municipality Assembly, and he was elected mayor of the Teslić Municipality for three terms.
Miličević performed the duties of acting president, and he entered that position after the general elections and the resignation of Mirko Šarović caused by the poor election result of the SDS.
The Main Board of that party was also elected at the assembly.
The newly elected president of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS), Milan Miličević, told reporters that at today's election assembly of the party in Banja Luka, a long process was completed and that the work of the party will continue in a demanding period.
"There are no effective and good policies without good organization. Our policies will be clear and constructive and we will offer solutions," said Miličević, announcing that the SDS will remain the backbone of gathering the opposition forces in the RS entity.
He is the eighth president of the SDS in its history. Until now, Radovan Karadžić, Aleksa Buha, Dragan Kalinić, Dragan Čavić, Mladen Bosić, Vukota Govedarica and Mirko Šarović were the leaders of that party.
