SARAJEVO, July 20 (FENA) - Member of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, attended the commemoration of the 31st anniversary of the mass executions in the area of Prijedor in 1992 at the Kamičani Memorial Center.

On that occasion, he said that a culture of memory must exist to preserve the truth about those killed in the area of Prijedor, as well as other places.

"We will continue to testify about the interrupted human lives, interrupted childhoods and stolen hopes of the victims. It is our constant responsibility to convey and preserve the facts about those who were brutally murdered but also to ensure the surviving residents a dignified life, truth and justice," said Bećirović.

He added that he will not stop seeking punishment for those who committed war crimes.

"At the same time, we want to build a common life with everyone who has good intentions and fights for peace and progress. Because we are not the same, we also have human, moral and civilizational strength to condemn every crime. We are obliged to show respect to every innocent victim, and to ask for the strictest punishment for every criminal," emphasized Bećirović.

He also attended the opening and presentation of the exhibition of artifacts found in mass graves at the Kamičani Memorial Center. To date, the remains of murdered citizens of Prijedor have been found in 503 locations, of which 73 are mass graves.
