MARRAKESH, May 30 (FENA) – The Federal News Agency (FENA) will host the General Assembly of the Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies (AMAN) in 2026. This was unanimously decided at the annual conference of the Association held in Marrakesh.

The candidacy of Bosnia and Herzegovina was presented by FENA's Deputy Director Ilija Musa, who emphasized that hosting the assembly represents a strategic opportunity for FENA to strengthen its role in the region and further position Bosnia and Herzegovina within the shared media space of the Mediterranean.

''We plan to hold the assembly in Mostar, a city of exceptional historical and cultural significance, known for the Old Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a symbol of coexistence. In addition, we would like to organize part of the program in Neum, the only coastal town in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to give participants a closer experience of the country's authentic Mediterranean identity,'' said Musa, who this year became a member of AMAN's board and will assume the presidency of the body next year.

He added that the proposal enjoys the support of the relevant institutions and that there is a strong commitment to ensuring top-level organization, hospitality, and a program aligned with AMAN's mission and values. FENA, a full member of the Association since 2018, is thus further solidifying its position within the Mediterranean news network.

At the Marrakesh session, Branka-Gabriela Vojvodić, Director of the Croatian News Agency (HINA), was elected as the new Secretary General of AMAN. She took over the role from George Panintéax, who served for more than two decades.

''I am proud that Croatia is contributing in this way to strengthening Mediterranean dialogue and the values that unite us,'' said Vojvodić.

The AMAN General Assembly brings together 20 national news agencies from both sides of the Mediterranean. It focuses on topics such as sustainability, intercultural dialogue, professional standards, and shared values, while explicitly excluding day-to-day political content from the program.
