ČAPLJINA, October 23 (FENA) – The Media and Tourism conference is taking place today at Hutovo Blato Nature Park, organized by the Federal News Agency (FENA) in collaboration with the Tourism Board of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC).

The aim of the conference is to foster dialogue between media professionals, tourism stakeholders, and institutions on the role of media in shaping and promoting Bosnia and Herzegovina’s tourist identity.

Ahead of the conference, media representatives were addressed by FENA Deputy Director Ilija Musa, Acting Director of the HNC Tourism Board Anđelko Maslać, and Čapljina Mayor Iva Raguž.

Musa highlighted this is the second consecutive year that FENA, in partnership with the HNC Tourist Board, is organizing the “Media and Tourism” conference.

“We are honored that this year the host is the City of Čapljina, which, with the support of the Development Bank, helps realize this conference where, among others, members of the academic community, entrepreneurs, and tourism professionals will meet. I am confident that through discussions on the development of tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we will contribute to better promotion of tourist locations, events, and the cultural and economic wealth of our country,” Musa said.

He added that FENA plays an important role in connecting the media and economic sectors and presenting Bosnia and Herzegovina not only to the domestic but also to the global audience.

“Through cooperation with news agencies across Europe and worldwide, and through membership in international associations, FENA conveys a positive message about Bosnia and Herzegovina and contributes to the branding of destinations and individuals who promote our country in the best light,” Musa said.

Mayor Raguž emphasized the importance of connecting media, tourist boards, local authorities, and the economy in promoting authentic tourism values.

“Every authentic media post, every photo of our rivers, Hutovo Blato Nature Park, or historical sites like Počitelj, has the potential to become an ambassador for Čapljina and Herzegovina. Therefore, joint action by all actors contributing to the development of sustainable tourism is essential,” Raguž said.

She added that the City of Čapljina remains a partner in such initiatives as they encourage environmental preservation, sustainable tourism development, and local community promotion.

Acting Director of the HNC Tourism Board Anđelko Maslać stressed that media are a key partner for tourism because they help convey authentic stories and brand destinations.

“We are very pleased to participate in the second conference of this type, which I believe is becoming a tradition. I hope that through the exchange of experiences, we will reach concrete solutions that will contribute to the promotion of HNC destinations, not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina but also internationally,” Maslać said.

The conference will feature two panels. The first panel, titled “Economic Perspectives and Institutional Challenges of Destination Branding,” will be moderated by Davorka Topić Stipić, with participants including Dalibor Milinković, Executive Director of the FBiH Development Bank, Bahrija Umihanić, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Tuzla International Airport, and Emil Balavac, Minister of Trade, Tourism, and Environmental Protection of the HNC.
