Gender dimension of the Dayton Agreement: Excluding women from peace processes hinders peacebuilding

SARAJEVO, December 2 (FENA) – Women were not part of the negotiations that led to the Dayton Peace Agreement. The negotiating teams were composed of men – political leaders and military representatives – which resulted in issues of gender equality, protection of victims of sexual violence, and reintegration of women into society being marginalized, it was highlighted today in Sarajevo at a conference dedicated to the gender dimension of the Dayton Agreement.
