ZENICA, January 28 (FENA) - Jewish municipality in Zenica and Committee for Inter-Religious Cooperation of the City of Zenica gathered at the Jewish cemetery yesterday to mark the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which was established in memory of 27th January 1945, when concentration camps Auschwitz and Birkenau were liberated in Poland.
“255 Jews from Zenica also experienced horrors of Holocaust, of which 55 survived and this day is an opportunity to send the message that this horror must never happen to anyone again,” emphasized Daniela Ozmo-Čulić emphasized on behalf of the Jewish municipality Zennica.
Around 14 500 Jews lived in BiH before World War II, and more than 80 percent were killed during the war.
