SARAJEVO, July 3 (FENA) – Stories on forming of a third entity or secession in BiH is a violation of spirit of the Dayton Treaty and danger for stability of BiH, but it also slows down progress.

This was emphasized today by Senator Roger Wicker, who is leading a delegation of the U.S. Congress during a visit to BiH, within which he will meet with BiH officials, international representatives and members of civil society.

He added the USA supports BiH’s aspirations to the Euro-Atlantic integration and he called upon BiH authorities to take the necessary steps towards this integration, assessing that the ruling structures are not serving the citizens very well.

He called discriminatory ethnic criteria unacceptable, reminding that the neighboring countries are moving forward and that it would not be good for BiH to fall behind, which is why they appealed to better leadership and cooperation, which includes election reform which needs to happen so the election results could be implemented.

“We are tired from the way ethnic policies dominate political debate, which makes decision making difficult. BiH cannot move forward if the authorities do not solve the issue of corruption,” said Wicker.

Wicker noted that citizens of BiH deserve more, and he repeated that the USA remains committed to stability and security of BiH.
