SARAJEVO, June 10 (FENA) - The BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić has issued an official request for an emergency session of the BiH Presidency over the migrant crisis.
Komšić also proposes that the Presidency of BiH instructs Defense Minister Marina Pendeš to order the use and deployment of military, police, engineering, reconnaissance and other units of the Armed Forces of BiH to support and assist patrols of the BiH Border Police in controlling the border of BiH with Serbia and Montenegro in order to prevent illegal crossings of the state border.
Under this proposal, the use and deployment of units of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina does not include the use of weapons and combat ammunition.
The use and deployment of the Armed Forces of BiH along the borders with Serbia and Montenegro is proposed because of the problem of illegal immigration into BiH from countries of Asia and Africa, contrary to the existing laws and visa regime that is in force in BiH.
Komšić also proposes that the Presidency of BiH requests holding of an extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers of BiH on the topic of a prompt and comprehensive engagement of all the available capacities of the Ministry of Security of BiH as well as the administrative organizations of BiH with operational independence within the Ministry of Security of BiH in order to tackle the problem of illegal migrants in BiH.
The BiH Constitution prescribes the exclusive competences of the BiH institutions when it comes to policies and regulating the issues of migration, immigration, refugees and asylum.
