SARAJEVO, September 20 (FENA) - Minister of Veterans’ Issues of the Sarajevo Canton Ismir Jusko attended the second memorial march "1.601 Flowers" on Trebević today, with nearly 200 students from six primary and secondary schools who planted 1.601 roses in 2018 to honor the children murdered during the siege of Sarajevo.

The memorial campaign was organized by the association of ecologists "Arboretum" with the support of the Ministry of Veterans’ Issues of the Sarajevo Canton.

Minister Jusko welcomed the participants of the march and emphasized the importance of nurturing the memory of the children murdered during siege of Sarajevo.

“How many future doctors, engineers, craftsmen and athletes were among the murdered children of Sarajevo, whose dreams were taken. That is why we must remember and hope that this will never happen again to anyone,” Minister Jusko said to children when they sometimes lose the motive to study, to remember the war generations and under what circumstances they finished their schools and that it should be good motive for the future to be first and foremost good people and excellent students.

He thanked the organizers of the memorial campaign and said that he had started an initiative to plant 11,508 tree seedlings in the site that will be provided by the Government of the Sarajevo Canton.

“It will be an avenue to honor all the murdered citizens of Sarajevo during the longest siege of any capital in the history. The activities have been initiated, as well as a number of other projects that we are planning in the coming period,” said Jusko.
