SARAJEVO, January 10 (FENA) - The ruling delivered today by the Čapljina Municipal Court against Salmir Kaplan, Demir Mahmutćehajić and Ahmet Ljubović is based on political motives, not legal criteria, said the SDA Main Board Chairman and Speaker of Assembly of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Šerif Špago.
Špago noted that, after having committed election fraud and imposing bans on running for office, the ruling structures, led by the HDZ, have suspended the democratic process in Stolac, they are now trying to validate it through politically motivated judgments of the local judiciary.
“The goal is a dictatorship of one way of thinking and forbidding Bosniaks from participating in the political life of Stolac. It is absurd that, even after three years, the local judiciary has not determined who is responsible for the attempted election fraud, but still, it delivers judgments that go directly to the benefit of local authorities, who have for decades pursued apartheid policies directed primarily against Bosniaks,” stressed Špago.
He is convinced that “this will not be the last word on this matter and that higher-level judicial authorities on appeal will overturn this judgment, which serves only to the detriment of the local judiciary."
"This politically motivated process must by no means discourage the struggle for a free and democratic Stolac, in which everyone will have equal rights," Špago concluded.
