SARAJEVO, April 21 (FENA) - FBiH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labor and Social Policy Vesko Drljača said at today's press conference of FBiH institutions that the reform of the labor legislation implemented by the FBiH Government has significantly improved the business environment, working conditions, protection of workers and significantly contributed to the reduction of the gray market.
Drljača stated that the FBiH Government has worked intensively to find measures to mitigate the inevitable economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic in order to seek the optimal balance between the state, workers and employers, and that the issue of the "corona law", which is addressed in the urgent parliamentary procedure, is discussed as well as an issue of functioning of labor legislation during the state of natural disaster.
He points out that certain provisions of the Labor Law relating to the organization of the work process, as well as rights and obligations arising from employment relations, could not be adequately applied during the state of disaster, which made it necessary to amend the Labor Law.
“From the beginning, the position of the FBiH Government was that employers' associations and trade unions should make a unique agreement, which would later be implemented through amendments to the Labor Law. All that they agree upon and is in accordance with their competencies is acceptable to the Government as well. Unfortunately, despite consultations and meetings of the Government Coordination Committee with employers' associations and trade unions, no final agreement was reached, so no agreement was reached on amendments to the Labor Law,” Drljača explained.
Drljača points out that in the past month since the state of disaster has been declared, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has shown a responsible approach by conducting activities primarily to protect BiH citizens, but also to preserve the stability of the economy, protection at work, assist the unemployed and care for the socially disadvantaged categories.
