SARAJEVO, June 10 (FENA) - SDA President and Vice Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Bakir Izetbegović commented on the statement of Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH Oleg Čavka, who called on him to name the prosecutor who took someone’s cell phone from the evidence material, that Izetbegović stated in a TV interview.
“Obviously, Čavka realized that I was referring to him. We all remember that 2016 affair when that prosecutor took a cell phone home and tried to put his card in it. We had this affair, but also the "Barašin" affair in 2012, when the above things were done by the same prosecutor, such as hacking, destruction of evidence, etc. Yes, I meant him,” Izetbegović explained.
He reiterated that he maintains his position on everything he said about the work of the judiciary in BiH, noting that radical changes are needed in terms of building a quality, independent and professional judiciary, assessing that this is an urgent need of BiH society.
“What we have now is nowhere near that. For many of them, the law does not apply, starting with the President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) Milan Tegeltija and the so-called prosecutor who took his mobile phone home and tried to use it, etc. There is too much to improve in the Prosecutor's Office in the work of the judiciary and work based on the Reinhard Priebe’s report (Senior EU Independent Legal Expert), of which everyone is aware in BiH society. The parliamentarians rejected the report of the Prosecutor's Office and it is high time to start thorough reforms,” said Izetbegović.
