SARAJEVO, September 11 (FENA) - At today's emergency, telephone session, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina approved the Agreement on Mutual Rights and Obligations regarding the Procurement of Vaccines through the Mechanism for Global Access to Vaccines for Prevention of COVID-19 (COVAX) and authorized the FBiH Minister of Health, Vjekoslav Mandić, to sign it with the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The agreement is to be signed by the representatives of the departmental ministry of the entity of Republika Srpska and the Department for Health and Other Services of the Brčko District of BiH, said the FBiH Government's press office.
The agreement is concluded with the aim of providing financial conditions for the procurement of vaccines for COVID-19 on the most favorable terms through GAVI, the Global Vaccine Alliance that manages the Mechanism for Global Vaccine Access to COVID-19 (COVAX), with the involvement of the Coalition for Innovation and Epidemic Preparedness (CEPI) and the World Health Organization, under the terms of the Purchase Agreement concluded with the GAVI Alliance.
The FBiH government amended its conclusions of 28 August 2020 and undertook to procure a vaccine against COVID-19 under the COVAX mechanism for vaccination of 20 percent of the most vulnerable population of the Federation of BiH, so that, according to the FBiH Institute of Public Health, 800,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine are to be procured at a price submitted by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH in the amount of 10.55 US dollars per vaccine.
