BiH and Austria are stepping up security cooperation
SARAJEVO, June 15 (FENA) - Representatives of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina and heads of security agencies in BiH are in Vienna at the invitation of the Austrian Ministry of Interior, where they had a series of meetings with colleagues from the Austrian Interior Ministry and visited key security institutions, the BiH Ministry of Security said.
The visit is a continuation of the cooperation agreed during a recent meeting between BiH Security Minister Selmo Cikotić and Austrian Interior Minister Karl Nehammer in Sarajevo.
The key message is that Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Austria want to develop and intensify cooperation in all areas of security, which was assessed by the mutual interest of the two countries. During the visit, joint activities were agreed, as well as a work program for activities that will be implemented in the coming months.
In addition to the meeting at the Austrian Ministry of the Interior, members of the BiH delegation visited and got acquainted with the work of the asylum center, the method of control and security at airports, the work of the Office for Joint Operations and the Center for Police Cooperation.
An important topic of the meetings is cooperation in the field of migration, especially the fight against human trafficking, return of migrants, and strengthening the capacity of BiH institutions in the field of migration. The representative of the Ministry of Security of BiH, Saša Kecman, also visited the location where the donated containers are, which will soon be transferred to the reception camp Lipa near Bihać.
Kecman pointed out that this is an important donation because it will enable the construction of accommodation facilities for migrants currently staying in Lipa before the coming winter, but also for relocating people currently staying in abandoned buildings in populated areas, the Ministry announced.
