SARAJEVO, September 13 (FENA) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić told FENA today that all diplomatic measures have been taken in cases such as the arrest of Edin Vranj.
"We expect the involvement of the competent judicial authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the whole case," Komšić added in a statement to FENA.
His cabinet also confirmed that the Ambassador of Serbia to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Aleksandar Đorđević, refused to come to the Presidency of BiH this morning at the invitation of Chairman Željko Komšić.
The topic of conversation was supposed to be the arrest of BiH citizen Edin Vranj, and although it was an official invitation, Ambassador Đorđević said that he would not respond.
Earlier, BiH Foreign Minister Bisera Turković ordered the BiH Embassy in Serbia to react immediately and receive official and complete information from the Serbian authorities on the status of Vranj, a BiH citizen arrested at the border.
The note has already been sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, and it was announced that the Ministry and the Embassy of BiH in Belgrade will immediately get involved in the case and offer all possible assistance to the citizen of BiH.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has previously, on several occasions, called on Serbia to respect all previously reached agreements that address the issue of war crimes prosecutions.
Edin Vranj, former head of the Criminal Police Sector in the Federal Police Administration (FUP) and head of the Department for Organized Crime, was arrested yesterday at the Uvac border crossing. He confirmed to the media that the reason for the arrest was the criminal charges from 2018 for alleged war crimes in Goražde.
