SARAJEVO, March 17 (FENA) - Acting Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milanko Kajganić talked today with the Director of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) Kathryne Bomberger about the process of searching for and identifying the remaining 7,400 missing persons in BiH.
Kajganić pointed out that the institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina need the help of ICMP, especially in terms of engaging modern technological resources for searching the locations of mass graves and the remains of missing persons.
He emphasized that investigators and professional staff of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH are on the ground almost every day at the locations of searching for missing persons in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina because finding and identifying missing persons is important evidence for war crimes cases.
The ICMP Director Bomberger pointed out that continuous joint work of the BiH institutions with the help of ICMP and the international community is needed to enable the search for missing persons who are still wanted as soon as possible, and that regional cooperation is an important segment in this process.
The joint conclusion of the meeting is that the search for missing persons is a priority because of the families of victims who have been searching for the remains of their closest relatives for more than 27 years, as well as the rule of law process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated the BiH Prosecutor's Ofifice.
