SARAJEVO, April 30 (FENA) - At the proposal of the Ministry of Transport, the Sarajevo Canton Government established new subsidies for public transportation, on the basis of which all pupils of primary, secondary schools and university students will enjoy the right to free public transport as of May 1.

"All pupils and students will be able to use public transport free of charge, and we believe that this decision will contribute to better results for young people, as well as household budgets. So far, we have made major changes in ticket prices and we will continue to find and bring new solutions in the interest of citizens," pointed out the Minister of Transport Adnan Šteta.

With this decision, Sarajevo will be the only city in the region that has free public transportation for all pupils and students.

"Since 2019, significant benefits have been realized for various categories of users, for whom transportation is cheaper, we have helped passengers not to feel the burden of price increase, introduced electronic tickets and are working on changing the tariff system," added Minister Šteta.
