SARAJEVO, May 3 (FENA) - With the presence of the official entity of the Republika Srpska, Serb representatives in the institutions of BiH, family members of fallen JNA members, representatives of non-governmental organizations and associations, marked the 31st anniversary of the martyrdom of members of the former Yugoslav People's Army today in the former Dobrovoljačka Street in Sarajevo.
In that street on May 3, 1992, during the withdrawal of JNA members from the barracks in Bistrik, there was an exchange of fire between the Territorial Defense of BiH and the JNA, and on that occasion members of the JNA were killed.
Speaking to the media, the President of the National Assembly of the RS, Nenad Stevandić, said that "many years have passed, and it cannot be expected that some victims are respected and others are not, and that this is the path to peace and reconciliation".
- All victims are equal and equally serious and no distinction can be made between the victims, that is the only thing that makes sense for the future - said Stevandić.
Seven members of the JNA were killed in the aforementioned conflict on May 3, according to the testimony of JNA general and former commander of the 2nd Army District of the JNA Milutin Kukanjec.
Family members and political representatives from the RS state that more than 40 were killed, 71 wounded and 207 captured.
