SREBRENICA, May 8 (FENA) - Members of the victims' families, Deputy Mayor of Srebrenica Municipality Hamdija Fejzić and Vice President of the Republika Srpska Ćamil Duraković marked today the 31st anniversary of the crimes against Bosniak civilians in Srebrenica and surrounding villages by laying flowers on the cemetery near the White Mosque in Srebrenica and reciting Fatiha prayer.
Amir Kulaglić, the son of the murdered policeman Safet Kulaglić, who was killed on this day in 1992, gave a history lesson to those present.
“We are here again to remind you of the monstrous crime, the crime without punishment committed by our neighbors. My father lived in an apartment across the street from the old MoI building. They came and asked for his gun because he was a retired policeman. They killed him in the old police building,” said Kulaglić.
He said that he will never forget his loved ones who were killed and burned in their homes on this day.
Deputy Mayor of Srebrenica Municipality Hamdija Fejzić points out that no one was held accountable for this crime.
According to the testimonies of the survivors, on May 8, 1992, Serbian soldiers set fire to dozens of houses in the center of Srebrenica. 12 people were burned in the burning houses, and another 18 were killed in the city center.
On the same day, 30 Bosniak civilians were killed in the Srebrenica villages of Dobrak, Liješće, Žabokvica and near the settlement of Skelani.
