SARAJEVO, May 8 (FENA) - This year's Women's Entrepreneurship Days started today with the introductory panel ‘Women's Leadership’ at the School of Business and Economics of the University of Sarajevo (EFSA).
Dean of EFSA Jasmina Selimović stated that the research, which they conducted two years ago and which included public companies in FBiH, showed that there is less than ten percent of women in top managerial positions. Ten or more years ago, as she added, there were almost no such positions.
According to her, EFSA organized this event as part of the Women's Entrepreneurship Days with the intention of bringing together eminent women from politics, the public sector, business and other areas of social life.
Mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić, said that women should support each other and that today's meeting will be an opportunity to discuss how they coped with challenges and achieved certain success.
“A lot is expected of a woman today, but I think that especially our BiH woman is so strong that she overcomes all obstacles, that she fights with all the adversities brought by today's times, which is not easy, and that in entrepreneurship, women are a real asset. Women in any field of work bring new energy and we can feel it,” said Mayor Karić, adding that women should be given more opportunities and that success will not be absent.
University professor, former minister of foreign trade and economic relations of BiH and member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Azra Hadžiahmetović believes that the position of women, both in business and in politics and the overall social environment, is at an unsatisfactory level.
The Association of Women Entrepreneurs in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the ninth time organized "Women's Entrepreneurship Days 2023" from May 8 to 12 at EFSA and in the Hotel Terme in Ilidža. The main goal of the Days is to network with businesswomen, identify obstacles and find solutions that will facilitate the business of BiH women entrepreneurs in BiH.
