Victims' associations: Mladić is dead, but responsibility for genocide and crimes remains

SARAJEVO, August 27 (FENA) – Following Ratko Mladić’s death, the focus should first and foremost be on his victims. He cannot be discussed outside the context of the crimes for which he was finally convicted. Behind his name remain thousands of people who were killed, expelled, detained and tortured, destroyed cities and villages, the siege of Sarajevo, the systematic persecution of the non-Serb population and, above all, the genocide in Srebrenica, in which more than 8,000 Bosniak men and boys were killed, the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide and the Association Movement of Mothers of the Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves said in a statement.
